Hunter (occ-1+) At any time you may convert 1 Sheep to 2 Food, 1 Boar to 3 Food, or 1 Cattle to 3 Food. You may not convert anything else to Food except what the Hunter can. [View playtest games] [View all dealt games] |

| This one seems really powerful compared to meatseller and butcher. I'd remove the bonus point or lower the convert rate to 2/2/3. | Jul 19, 2010 1:24am [quote] (Edit: Jul 19, 2010 1:41am) |

the bonus point can only be receive if u put at least 1 sheep, 1 boar, and 1 cattle u slaughter in this way. not a real suggestion, just trying to make it more interesting which suit the name better, A successful hunter deserve 1 VP! lol |

Isn't this the Occ equivalent of a CH, at far less the cost both in terms of material, and with the added benefit of a played Occupation? The prohibition of cooking improvements isn't really a cost or "con" since with a CH you don't need another cooking improvement anyway. I like the idea of a Hunter occupation though. Spit-balling some ideas: - maybe he must pay 1w each time he converts animals to food (he uses the wood to build a hunter's campfire). This could offset the fact that the conversion rate is the same as a CH - and/or maybe a player must have one or more of these as a prerequisite: Private Forest, Wildlife Preserve, Spinney, Forest Pasture (a place for hunting) - and/or maybe the player doesn't have to have one of those prerequisites, but one must be in play and he must pay one food to a player who does have one of those each time he converts animals to food? Just some ideas. |

I agree. Having the converting rate of a hearth is too good, and the idea is not new. The Butcher(I247) does the same thing using the converting rate of a simple fireplace. |

The new idea is that you cannot bake bread or convert building resources to food. You are committing to only eating animals and raw food. If the card is too strong, there are ways to weaken it, including removing the VP and/or reducing the conversion rate. Also I could make it occ4+ where animals are harder to get. |

yes but the Butcher as no limitations re: other cooking improvements. you can still get an oven. the Hunter keeps you very one dimensional, and while the conversion rate for animals is as good as a CH, you can not bake or convert veggies as you can with a CH. Perhaps you 1 bonus point could be removed. i'm not sure this should prevent you from buying and using the joinery, pottery, or bmw and lets get a better picture for my namesake. c'mon. lol. |

I clarified the text so that it is clear that you may not convert anything to food except what the Hunter converts. I removed the 1 VP and I lowered the exchange rate. |
