Pretty straightforward bonus point card analogue to cards like Clogs, Manger or Rake.

Where to place your fields gets important.
To receive more then 2 bonus points you have to build smaller pastures. To get the maximum 5 bonus points you have to build 8 fields in a way that you will only be able to fence at most 2 spaces.

......fields that are adjacent to exactly one other field.

am I missing something?
Unless you are using the new card Landscape Design, maximum number of such fields is 2.

Yes you are.

Let me elaborate how to get 2 bonus points (so 3 fields):

H= house, F= fields, P= pasture, E= empty

F F F P P
H F E P P
H H H P P

3 of those fields are adjacent to exactly 1 other field, 1 of those fields (the one in the middle) is adjacent to 3 fields.

I add the word orthogonally to make it clearer.

Note that while those 2 points might look trivial you cant build 4 rooms, 5 fields and 4 pastures on 6 spaces (which is considered optimal under normal circumstances) and get those 2 bonus points.

not a terrible idea but i'd tweak the points i think. (max points for 4 fields since getting 5 would require an absurd effort (or landscape design combo) ... alternately: make it zero or one, and have the card could say: Acreage, Turnip Field etc count as fields) glengarry

I don't understand "orthogonally adjecent". Can't there be only 4 fields orthogonally adjacent to one other, like left, right, top and bottom? tom

You are correct that one field can only have 4 other fields that are orthogonally adjacent.

But this card counts every field that is orthogonally adjacent to any one field, it doesnt have to be the same.
For example you could have 5 fields in a straight line and get 1 bonus point because the 2 fields at the ends of the line are adjacent to only 1 other field.
The other 3 fields are adjacent to 2 other fields.

I hope this is clearer now....

I think this is a good card although it may confuse some people. It is certainly a sacrifice to plow fields in a weird configuration to achieve top VPs.

Yes, tom2 is correct. If all your fields touch each other than the largest number of fields that are adjacent to only 1 is 4. That would be obtained by plowing 5 fields in plus sign. I challenge you to find a configuration that obtains your 5+ fields to achieve the full 5 VPs with your card.

Only need this: At the end of the game, you receive 1/2/3 Bonus points for having 2/3/4 fields that are orthogonally adjacent to exactly one other field.

What do you do with non conventional fields like Acreage. I guess they aren't adjacent to any fields right?

ok, 5+ bonus you need 8 fields.

Yup, thats the one. If you only go to 3 rooms you can fence two spaces in the upper left corner but nothing more.

I want to leave the option on the card (it doesnt make the card text that much longer) even if its only done in every hunderth game. But if you do it and win by that you got something to boast about and it will make people think about farm layout, at least the first times they play with that card.
